Bump Watch

I am getting closer to being half way done!  It is becoming real now that I am showing a little more and my clothes are getting tighter.

Week 17:

No weight gain this week, which totally blows my mind considering how much food I am able to consume every 2 SECONDS!  I have been eating a large breakfast at 7:00am, apple and peanut butter at 9:00am, banana and peanut butter at 11:00am, lunch at 12:30, more snacks at about 2:00pm, 5:00pm, dinner at 6:30pm, and who knows, sometimes a snack at 8pm too! Yes, I have a jar of peanut butter in my desk at work and I have finished 2.5 jars of peanut butter in the past 6 weeks.

This week I have accomplished something that many people may not have done before.  I ate an entire tray of brownies in 3 days! I was partially very impressed with myself, and the other half of me was horrified by the fact that a pan of brownies disappeared in 3 days. The dogs did not eat any and neither did James–even though I did try to blame all three of them. I still can not believe that James did not have even ONE brownie.

Week 18:

This week Baby M is the size of a bell pepper.

MATERNITY CLOTHES?  Occasionally. They are much more comfortable now. I have even ventured out to buy more clothes after the realization that I will not fit into my clothes much longer.
SLEEP: Sleeping has been getting more and more uncomfortable. My stomach is now sticking out far enough where it hurts to way on my side.  I guess there is sagging going on and I have to make sure that my stomach is supported by a pillow.
BEST MOMENT: Still a winner–Hearing Baby M’s heart beat and hearing that baby flips like crazy!
MISS ANYTHING? Subway!!  Who would have ever thought I would NEED subway so badly!  I have been avoiding Subway like the plague since I can not eat it. If I even smell Subway I start to drool!
MOVEMENT: Still nothing, but my doctor says anywhere from 18 weeks to 22 weeks I will start to feel Baby M kick or flip!
This week has been carbs, carbs, and carbs! Blueberry pancakes! Cornbread! You name it, I will eat it. And hamburgers!
  Eggs are still the winner!
GENDER:  I keep calling Baby M a he!  Although, this past week I took a few old wives tales tests online and each one said it was a girl, so now I am completely at a loss.
SYMPTOMS:  I have not thrown up at all this week, although I still gag just about every time I brush my teeth.  The amount of food I eat is insane! I am hungry ALL THE TIME.
MOOD:  Pretty good, especially now that the dogs bark collars seem to be working.
EXCITED FOR: To find out if I will be a proud Mommy of a little boy or little girl!

I guess this is what 18 week pregnant Jennifer looks like!

Wolves and Bears

IMG_3576I turned around while hiking the other day (without my dogs) and found this wolf following me!!  AHHHHHHHHHH!

Just Kidding!!! Did I scare you? It is a real wolf though.

We are going to go back in time a tad–to about 3ish weekends ago.  I wanted to go to the Zoo.  Yes, at 28 years old, zoo’s are still far too much fun to pass up.  It just so happens that the closest zoo to my house is 2.5 hours away.  I ALMOST had James convinced to go to the zoo with me.  I say almost because once he realized we were going to drive 5 hours to walk around a zoo for 2 hours, he came to his senses…lame.  So here comes one of those “Let’s compromise, we are married moments.”  We will venture to the zoo once Baby M arrives.

We compromised on becoming tourists down at West Yellowstone.  Ok–I guess I can go for that. It was the last big weekend for West, so it was packed!  We had breakfast at a local cafe, wandered around West for a while, played tourist, and then we went to the Discovery Center.  Yes, it is as much fun as it sounds–bears and wolves, eagles, and hawks..

And probably the largest crow I have ever seen!

These two wolves are the skinniest wolves I have seen at any sort of zoo.
I think they are just large dogs and somebody takes these guys home at night with their families.

These two bears are brother and sister.

The keepers put food under the rocks to keep all the tourists (and James and I) busy watching those wondering what is going on.

Sister bear is taking a dip in the water.

Pregnancy Questionnaire

Week 16:

Two posts in one day! Lucky you! Baby M is the size of an avocado at 16 weeks.

I just found this cute little questionnaire and thought I would share this with you!

MATERNITY CLOTHES?  Occasionally. I have worn maternity jeans once, maternity leggings once, and two maternity shirts thus far.
SLEEP: I don’t have a problem going to sleep, just staying asleep.
STRETCH MARKS?: Nope. Not yet anyways, hopefully none by 40 weeks too.
BEST MOMENT: Hearing Baby M’s heart beat and hearing that babe flips like crazy!
MISS ANYTHING? Wine. Especially when my friends are having wine and cheese. But the cheese part isn’t too bad either.
MOVEMENT: Haven’t felt anything yet, but my doctor says Baby M is doing flips and kicking like crazy.
YES! Crazy cravings! Peanut butter and apples, carrots from the garden, and sugar. sugar, sugar, sugar.
  Eggs.  And most strong smells.
GENDER: ???  I keep calling Baby M a he, so maybe a boy?!
LABOR SIGNS:   Nope, and hopefully not for a looooong while.
SYMPTOMS: Morning sickness is gone, I feel good.  I will still throw up randomly though..
INNIE OR OUTIE? Innie, still..
MOOD:  More like mood-swings! Wowa! Happy as can be one moment and then I bring laundry into the closet and BAM total meltdown.  (Both my sister and mom have witnessed this)
EXCITED FOR: To find out if I will be a proud Mommy of a little boy or little girl!

Wisconsin Bridal Shower

After working 9 days straight, taking over the department after my boss went on maternity leave, and trying to tie up loose ends before I left; I ventured over to Wisconsin at the end of August for one of my cousins bridal showers.  Flying has become much more bothersome now that I am pregnant.  I opt out of the body scan (they say it is safe but I don’t want to take the chance) which means that I need to get the FULL BODY pat down.  Chest, inner thighs, hair, armpits, ankles, feet…nothing is safe.  Its a total drag, especially when they ask you to lift your shirt up above your waistline in the middle of the airport.  Its crazy, the TSA agents always look at me strangely when they see that my jeans button is held together by a rubber band. (Come on people, its better than maternity pants with the big band around the top!) And this is just great–all these random people really want to see me and my 15 week old baby stomach.  Thanks TSA.  When I was booking my ticket I was going to just go from Southwest Montana to Minneapolis, then drive with my sister to Milwaukee for the bridal shower.  That did not happen because flying to Milwaukee THROUGH Minneapolis was cheaper.  Go figure.

So I made it to Milwaukee at the end of August, it was a humid, cloudy day.  My mom and my grandma picked me up from the airport. We had planned on going shopping for maternity clothes because the selection in Southwest Montana has a lot be desired.  But first things first. I had not eaten anything in about 2.5 hours.  I was starving! Lately I have been eating about every 1.5 hours–all day long.  So we stopped for lunch so I did not get hangry.  We started shopping, and I must admit, I may have thrown a slight fit about the selection of clothes that Old Navy had.  Everything looked really frumpy, ugly, boxy, and just plan massive!  Of course, sitting in the dressing room with me, my mom and grandma were having a hay-day! They were enjoying the MINOR fit I threw each time I put something else on.  Needless to say I (sort of) sucked it up and we bought some leggings, a dress, and two shirts.  I was not into looking at any other stores, but my mom convinced me to look at Motherhood, a maternity store.  My attitude changed when I saw “normal” looking massive clothes. Turns out I can do massive looking clothes when they look half decent.  The three of us had a ball at the maternity store–they even had a stuffed belly that I put on to see what the clothes looked like. I bought quite a few outfits there.  We only went to two stores because between the three of us, our shopping tolerance is maybe 1.5 hours. Tops. It must run in the family, nobody likes to shop in my family.

The whole weekend was pretty foggy–and by pretty foggy I mean 300 foot ceilings and my dad, sister, brother, and future sister-in-law were not able to fly down to see me.  Bummer.  It was also rather chilly out.  We still had a blast though!  On Friday night I was out cold nice and early.  Saturday we hung out, ate a lot of great food, and Saturday night some of my cousins came over for a birthday party for cousin Jennifer’s youngest daughter.  She turned two! Sunday was cousin Haley’s Bridal Shower on the Lake. It was so nice, they did a wonderful job!  The bride to be looked wonderful!! Anybody who looked at her could tell just how happy she was (and is)!

The weekend did not last long enough, I flew home Sunday night and worked bright and early Monday morning.

Bump Watch

Week 13:
What do I remember about week 13? Honestly, not a whole lot. I am still pretty tired. I have not had any more morning sickness, however now I will randomly start gagging and then throw up.  I can not figure out what makes me start gagging, but it will happen at random times and after random things.  Also–my super sniffer is working far too well.  The smells are still killing me and of course working in a retirement home (even a very nice one like I work at) there are A LOT of smells and most of them are not all that pleasant.

Week 14:
My boss went on Maternity leave at the end of the week and now I am the interim director.  By now most of my coworkers know that I am pregnant and quite a few residents now know as well. They are all happy for me and the other managers are thrilled that I was considerate enough to wait for my maternity leave until after my boss gets back.  Haha! It was pretty good timing I guess! She gets back at the end of November and I am due in the middle of February.  The gagging and throwing up is still hanging out with me.  I also must admit that my pants are very snug now and I can only button 1 pair at this point.  My shirts are all a little snug and overall I am just not comfortable in my own clothes anymore.

Week 15:
At the beginning of this week I traveled to Wisconsin for my cousins bridal shower (more on that later).  My mom, grandma, and I went maternity clothes shopping while I was in Wisconsin too–Southwest Montana lacks horribly in maternity clothes. So now I have maternity clothes and I must admit, I have worn two of my maternity shirts this week. They are much more comfortable than my old shirts.  I have been feeling good, however the random gagging and throwing up is still occurring. I went to the doctor again on Wednesday, baby m has a strong heart beat at 150 bpm and is still quite active.  Baby M kicked the doppler a few times while my doctor was listening to it.  My blood pressure was back to normal–thankfully!  The last time I went to the doctor it was quite high (for me) at 130/80.  This time it was back down to 106/58.  Everything looks great and I have gained 3 pounds since the start.

Ok, this is not the best picture of me,
but it does show my baby bump (and my new shirt) at 15 weeks.

Next doctors appointment is at 5 months AND its the ultrasound!! Waawhoo!
